If you’ve ever found yourself standing in a room with five clashing cushion covers and no idea how you got there — you’re not alone. Designing a room without a moodboard is like going grocery shopping hungry. You overspend. You lose direction. And you often regret it later. An Interior Design Moodboard will help you in your redesigning and redecorating journey.
An interior design moodboard is a visual snapshot of your interior concept. It combines your colour palette, textures, furniture ideas, accessories, lighting, and inspiration into one place — so you can see how everything works together before committing.
It doesn’t have to be fancy. It can be a digital board, a physical pinboard, or a flat lay on your table. The key is to curate, not clutter.
It saves money by reducing impulse buys
It creates cohesion, especially if you’re designing multiple rooms
It boosts confidence and gives direction
It helps you communicate your vision clearly to partners or suppliers
Begin with one “hero” element (a fabric, artwork, or rug)
Build a colour story around it
Add 2–3 texture swatches
Pin or screenshot furniture and accessory ideas
Stand back — does it flow? Does it feel balanced?
