A Calm, Contemporary Luxury Bedroom – Darras Hall

The Brief

Our client wanted their primary bedroom to feel like a boutique hotel suite: calm, indulgent, and beautifully finished. The space lacked warmth, cohesion, and that “wow” factor the homeowner really wanted to wake up to every day.

They asked for a design that felt timeless yet modern, soft but structured, and effortlessly luxurious.

The Design Vision

We built the entire scheme around tone on tone neutrals, elevated textures, and architectural detailing. Nothing shouty, nothing trend led, just pure, understated elegance.

The bedroom’s soft, layered colour palette was chosen to create instant serenity: warm taupes, soft champagnes, brushed golds, and tactile furnishing fabrics. Every element was carefully placed to support a feeling of calm, balance, and comfort.

Key Design Features

1. A Full Height, Fluted Upholstered Headboard Wall

This became the signature moment in the room.

  • The vertical fluting draws the eye up, giving the room a heightened sense of luxury and scale.

  • The suede effect upholstery introduces a velvety softness that works beautifully at night under warm lighting.

  • Each panel was custom measured to sit seamlessly between the two decorative wall mouldings, creating symmetry and a strong architectural frame behind the bed.

This wall alone transformed the feel of the room – hotel grade elegance in an everyday home.

2. Soft Glimmer Roman Blinds

The Roman blinds feature a subtle, topographic inspired pattern in a champagne sheen.

  • They diffuse the exterior light perfectly in the morning.

  • When closed at night, they add depth and texture without overpowering the space.

  • The fabric’s gentle movement ties in with the pillows and bedspread to create a coordinated, layered finish.

3. Warm, Sculptural Bedside Lighting

The gold toned lamps introduce height, glow, and a sense of evening indulgence.
Their silhouettes echo the verticals of the headboard and the room feels instantly intentional, not accidental.

4. Bespoke Bedside Tables With Metallic Accents

The white and gold bedside tables were chosen to modernise the scheme and keep the palette fresh.

  • Clean lines keep the look contemporary.

  • Gold recessed detailing elevates them, adding just the right amount of glamour.

  • Their slimline design ensures the room maintains open circulation.

5. Layered Hotel-Style Bedding

We layered the bed with crisp white bed linen, tonal scatter cushions, and a quilted throw that adds structure and softness.
The result? A bed that invites you in.

The Result

A once simple bedroom is now a beautifully balanced sanctuary—warm, luxurious, and tailored down to the stitching.

The space feels boutique without being showy, calm without feeling flat, and wonderfully high end while remaining completely liveable. Every choice, from the fluted headboard wall to the textured blinds, was made to create a restful room that holds its elegance from sunrise to evening.

This bedroom now delivers that quiet sense of luxury our clients love and it’s a perfect example of how thoughtful detailing can completely elevate a space.

Stylish, magnificent, inspirational...

I have recently renovated a bungalow and used Q interiors for the interior design.  I have been so pleased with the advice and support and the end result is fantastic.  I am recently widowed and Karen supported me throughout the project with advice and ideas, she went over and above her remit and I am so grateful. I love my finished home – it is so tasteful, modern and fresh.  Karen’s attention to detail is amazing and the quality of the soft furnishings is fabulous.  I would definitely recommend the company, the service has been faultless.
